Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Welcome to zero-project. If you are new here, this guide will help you understand what this project is about, how it works, and how you can use the music.

About the project

Q: What exactly is zero-project?
A: Launched in 2007, zero-project is an independent, one-person music project. I compose, produce, and distribute original music that blends electronic soundscapes, ambient atmospheres, and cinematic orchestral elements.

Q: Is the music really free? Where is the catch?
A: Yes, the music is 100% free to download directly from this website in high-quality formats (MP3 and Ogg Vorbis). There is no catch, no hidden subscriptions, and no forced ads. The project is funded purely by streaming royalties, voluntary donations, commercial licensing, and premium downloads.

Q: Why do you give your music away for free?
A: I believe that music should be accessible to everyone. By sharing it freely under Creative Commons, I want to support the global community of indie creators (video editors, students, hobbyists, and digital artists) who need quality music for their passion projects but don't have big budgets. At the same time, this approach creates a mutual benefit: not only do creators gain access to free music, but my work also reaches a wider audience and finds new listeners through their projects.

How to use the music

Q: Can I use your tracks in my YouTube video, podcast, or social media?
A: Yes, absolutely! You can use my music for free in any personal project, even if you monetize it. The only requirement is that you give proper credit (attribution) to zero-project in your description or credits.

Q: How do I properly give credit?
A: Just copy and paste this simple line into your video description or project credits:

Q: Can I use the music for commercial projects?
A: Yes! You are free to use the music for commercial purposes (including monetized videos, indie games, or ads), provided that you always give proper credit to the artist. If you prefer not to include credits in your project, you will need to purchase a commercial license via the licensing platforms Jamendo or The Music Case. Direct licensing links are provided on the respective page of each release (album, single, or track).

For detailed information, including specific use cases and commercial options, please visit the dedicated licensing page.

Audio quality

Q: What audio formats do you offer?
A: Free downloads on the site are available in standard MP3 224 kbps for universal compatibility, and Ogg Vorbis 192 kbps, an open-source format popular in game development. If you wish to support zero-project, you can also purchase premium downloads to get the highest quality MP3 320 kbps, lossless FLAC 16-bit / 44.1 kHz, or uncompressed studio-grade WAV 16-bit / 44.1 kHz.

Music updates

Q: I noticed different versions of the same music. What does that mean?
A: Unlike traditional music releases that stay the same forever, zero-project music evolves. I constantly revisit older tracks to improve their mixing and mastering using modern production tools. You can check the catalog updates page to see the exact update history of every release.

It is always recommended to download the latest version. However, if you are looking for older versions, you can find them all on the vault page.

Safety and legality

Q: Is it safe and legal to download music from this site?
